Premise: Vampires exist and are now lving beside humans. Why? A Japanese scientist has created synthetic blood that vampires can now drink and then techincally live harmoniously with humans because they won't need to attack humans. In the meantime, 25-year-old virginal Sookie falls for vampire Bill; chaotic events ensue.

Why is this show good? First, the supposting cast is really strong. You have a comedic character in Jason Stackhouse, Sookie's dim-witted but well-meaning brother:

Strength and support in Tara, and mystery and a smitten quality (for Sookie)in Sam Merlotte (and a really awesome plot twist secret involving him we just discover!):

This show is set in Lousiana, so you get a fair share of smoldering Southern accents. Basically, the show feels drenched with Southern spirit and
swamp-y sexiness, and I will be sure to spit some substance about it regularly.
